I believe, after reading the letter “Does Reschenthaler know what socialism is?” (Feb. 17, TribLIVE), that there is a good reason to perhaps question his ability to represent the people in the area — or any area of the country. If he can’t recognize socialism practices in our own country, then how can we expect him to pass laws for us? Does he understand that Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, SNAP, Energy Assistance, Head Start, etc. are all conducted under a socialist system? The government pools the money, then shares it so everyone benefits. Each program has its own formulas to divide the money for people who are enrolled, registered, qualified or have reached a certain age.

Being in a government position, Reschenthaler should know that better than he knows how to break down one of his high-powered rifles from the military or how to interrogate a prisoner. We all heard about his interrogation experience more times than need be when he was campaigning.

Does he need to go back to middle school for socialism education?
