After reading the article “Malls’ best days may be long gone, but memories remain strong, particularly at Christmastime” (Dec. 11, TribLIVE), I am reminded of a visit that my husband and I made to Century III in October 1994. We did indeed meet Richard Simmons when he invited us up to the stage to exercise with him. After his performance (he had asked for married couples to join him), he asked each couple how long they had been married. My husband spoke up and told him that we had just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Upon hearing this, Richard reached into his pocket and pulled out a $100 bill. He handed it to my husband and told him to “take her out to dinner.” It is something that we will always remember.
