Letter to the editor: Rockey best pick for Allegheny County executive

The members of the Pennsylvania Laborers’ District Council are proud to stand with the Steamfitters Local 449, our union brothers and sisters from the Boilermakers Local 154, and all of the local law enforcement unions in supporting Joe Rockey for Allegheny County executive.

Why are unions lining up behind Rockey? Party registration does not matter. Rockey is fully committed to the projects that will help our members and their families.

We believe his opponent, Sara Innamorato, is failing as she tries to deflect from a record openly opposing our members’ jobs.

She opposed the Shell ethane cracker plant. Her opposition contributed to Pennsylvania losing the hydrogen hub that is now going to West Virginia. She tries to distract us with issues that don’t have anything to do with county government, because when it comes to the ones that do, she simply cannot provide answers and is not looking out for the best interest of working families.

At every turn, Innamorato has made it clear to us that she has no respect for blue-collar jobs and the families they support. She is not a Democrat. She is a far-left extremist reaching for the next rung on the ladder to nowhere.

Rockey, however, has a proven record of problem solving, something that Allegheny County is in desperate need of.
