Letter to the editor: Rooneys, make us proud again

I’ll bet the Chief is turning over in his grave. How can anyone be happy with a constant mediocre team?

Penn State saw their football team was never going to win it all; every year, losing to Ohio State and Michigan. They were brave enough to do what was needed. Why can’t the new generation of Rooneys see that if you can’t win a playoff game, you will never go to the Super Bowl?

You can always tell who the better coaches are when adjustments are made at halftime. The better coaching will always win.

Mike Tomlin is a very good speaker. Too bad he’s not a good coach. I heard an announcer say Tomlin was a better coach than Bill Belichick. That is insane. Belichick has won six Super Bowls as a head coach and two as an assistant, compared to one Super Bowl for Tomlin.

The crowd at the end of the Nov. 30 game against the Buffalo Bills told it like it is: fire Tomlin. Sorry to say, after being a Steelers fan all my life (I’m 79), I was rooting for the Bills, only because I’m tired of hearing that Tomlin has never had a losing season. Mark Madden and James Harrison are smart and brave enough to tell it like it is. Time to move on.

Before I die I’d like to see the Steelers win Super Bowls again. But unless changes are made, it won’t happen. Get off your butts, Rooneys, and do the right thing. Make the Chief and fans proud again.
