So, Saint Vincent College invited a speaker that made the liberal-leaning administration “cringe” (“Saint Vincent College responds to racism claims following weekend lecture,” April 14, TribLIVE)? Their response — to make sure that it never happens again. I guess they just don’t want to hear something that may offend their political sensibilities.

It’s sad when an institution that professes to support free speech and civil discourse can be so intolerant of an opinion they disagree with.

Since Saint Vincent College claims to “teach … what is beautiful.” Maybe it should also teach these words often attributed to Voltaire: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
