Regarding the letter “Time to move deer hunting opener back to Monday” (March 19, TribLIVE): The Pennsylvania Game Commission did the right thing when they moved the opening day of deer season to Saturday. Now, hunters have three Saturdays to hunt and, with the one Sunday hunting day, it goes from opener to Sunday consecutive.

To all the hunters still complaining about the Saturday opener and the “traditional” Monday opener: If you don’t like the Saturday as the first day, then wait until Monday to go out. Go to your camp on Saturday, get settled in, go shopping in town, go to the fire hall and have breakfast. Go do all the things you did before, then go hunting Monday. Quit complaining and trying to take away the extra Saturday that I and others enjoy being in the woods.

And also, I haven’t seen any fire department close down from lack of funds from not having a breakfast fundraiser. Make a donation to the VFD in lieu of the breakfast.
