Apparently, a 39-year-old has-been is bigger than the team. Ringmaster Mike Tomlin must think so, as he let a very talented Mason Rudolph languish on the bench to appease a quarterback who can’t run or throw.

If Ben Roethlisberger actually practiced, perhaps he’d see what we’ve seen the last 10 years in the film room. Ben’s feelings are hurt because the Steelers didn’t want him back. Buy a Kleenex and get over it. Please Ben, don’t tell us about your come-from-behind victories. You always had us behind. You, like Terry Bradshaw and all the others, have a shelf life when the skills are gone. It’s only a business when a player wants a big contract.

Tomlin will continue to be mediocre, because the talent from the Bill Cowher years is long gone. Stop the insanity of doing things for the wrong reasons, or we’ll get the wrong results. Trade Tomlin for a sixth-round pick. His shortcomings are numerous and humorous.

Is the Super Bowl the goal? Hire a disciplinarian coach. No more overpriced diva quarterbacks; they’re cancerous, salary-cap killers. Run the football! I’ve coached this team (from my couch) for over 50 years, and this team is the most embarrassing. I can’t keep increasing my blood pressure pills watching this god-awful play.

SOS. Save our Steelers.
