Letter to the editor: Seeking financial answers in Norwin

In my letter “Fiscal responsibility in Norwin” (July 14, TribLIVE), I mentioned that the Norwin School District’s treasurer’s reports were not being reported monthly as required by law. It is especially important to note that this is paramount in June, when the district’s annual proposed budget is on the agenda.

Now it is August (the March, April and May reports are available), and we find information that certainly could have proved beneficial then, not now.

Then, a deficit budget was proposed with a tax increase to balance it. We see now that a $17,183,697 adjusted bank balance was available at the end of May. Why a deficit? To further exacerbate this, June reports a $19,468,379 balance. Some of this balance could have prevented any concerns and passed without controversy. But the Norwin administration seems to love controversy.

This needs to cease. The only way to effect change is at the top. This will happen after the election if the voters of Norwin have had enough of financial deceit. Vote “Change 4 Norwin” in November.
