The “stupid light” is flashing again.

The weight limit on the Fern Hollow Bridge was 26 tons.

The weight of a fully loaded fire truck can be 30 tons.

The weight of a fully loaded garbage truck can be 32 tons.

The weight of a fully loaded tractor-trailer can be 40 tons.

The weight of an empty articulating bus is 20 tons, then add 50 people.

This bridge is a major Pittsburgh thoroughfare. Has anyone ever seen a garbage truck, a fire truck, a tractor-trailer or a fully loaded articulating PAT bus crossing over the Fern Hollow Bridge?

So as the finger pointing begins, let’s ask our government officials, which agency is responsible for enforcing bridge weight limits, and does the Port Authority take bridge weight limits into consideration of its routes?
