Letter to the editor: So what are Republicans’ plans to help?

Regarding Bob Jacobs’ letter “One-side sources leave people ignorant” (Dec. 9, TribLIVE), accusing other letter-writers of “misinformation and ignorance”:

1. Perhaps Republicans “campaigned” on energy independence to bring down gas prices, but they have no concrete proposals on how to do that. And at their first press conference outlining their priorities, the first order of business was … Hunter’s laptop!

2. Again, Republicans talk about resecuring the border, but no talk of how they propose to go about it. I wonder if Republicans even want to deal with this issue in good faith, because it is such a potent dog whistle for them.

3. Jacobs says “Republicans want to combat crime by forcing liberal DAs to enforce the law, not coddle criminals with no-cash bail and no jail time.” They want to combat crime by attacking duly elected public officials because they disagree on policy. (See the egregious impeachment proceedings taking place in our own Legislature.) Jacobs doesn’t seem to realize that by the time a crime is with the district attorney, someone has already been hurt or killed. Republicans don’t seem to be capable of seeing the relationship between more guns and more crime.

Lastly, I, myself, am amazed and outraged by the “ignorance” still displayed in our community by those who continue to display flags and signs supporting the former president who has proven himself unfit and a traitor to this country by his conduct both during and after his term.
