Letter to the editor: Social media users, not owners, hold responsibility

Tribune-Review

A chat with Lori Falce: Wow! That piece you wrote attacking Mark Zuckerberg was pathetic (“A very meta chat with Mark Zuckerberg,” Oct. 28, TribLIVE). That copy space could have been utilized so much better. I’d rather read a year’s worth of Joseph Sabino Mistick (not) than an editor’s high-horse, sarcasm-ladened gripes.

Boo-hoo, Facebook owns all photos of your son and is responsible for the hateful feedback you get through social media. You’re responsible for that! Why would you put even a single photo of your son on any social media platform?

In my opinion, online social media is no good. It’s great for clubs and organizations and it connects folks and families over great distances. After that, it’s just bad. We hear about the bad all the time.

The CEOs of the popular social media platforms should not have to answer to or apologize to Congress or the media for their company’s actions; for the most-part, Facebook doesn’t cause a suicide.

Start reading the “fine print” when you open those social media accounts. You all scroll down and click “accept,” so quit bellyaching. You self-righteous blowhards only wish you thought of Facebook or TikTok in your dorm room.
