Letter-writer Chris Hartig is way off base with the suggestion that the Keystone XL pipeline be used to steal water from the Great Lakes (“Keystone pipeline could transport water,” June 15, TribLIVE). It would be cheaper if, instead of transferring water south at great expense, both monetary and environmental, the people and companies who need the water just move to where the water is. There are large areas of many “Rust Belt” cities that are available for redevelopment. Many of those cities, Pittsburgh included, are every bit as livable as southern cities, if not more. At least, especially after this spring, we have water.
