Letter to the editor: Some facts on the Trump indictment

Tribune-Review

As I read the letter ”Trump doesn’t stand a chance in DC” (Aug. 6, TribLIVE), I was amused at the false statements, another ploy of Trump acolytes, so with that in mind, I’ll try to show its falsehoods.

Alleged crimes are charged in the district in which they were committed (Sixth Amendment). Tanya Chutkan was appointed to the federal bench June 5, 2014. Thus the only affiliation with Hunter Biden is that they worked at the same firm, hardly anything to do with the writer’s statement that seems to be leading the reader to think she represented him. And yes, she represented Theranos (Boies, Schiller and Flexner) in a suit against another law firm, long prior to the charging of CEO Elizabeth Holmes (Williams and Connolly). By the way, Biden is represented by Latham & Watkins.

The fact that it took 2½ years to charge is not rare considering all of the alleged criminal activity. For instance, Biden’s investigation began in 2018. The writer’s accusations involving the current administration and the Department of Justice have no argumentative value; this indictment is being brought because crimes have been committed.

As for the the musings concerning other beliefs, they are just that — one man’s distorted opinion.

I truly believe that all people are equal under the law. I don’t take sides no matter the person or position. Just see the facts as they are presented.
