In his column “Sports without fans will be dreadful, and we all know it” (May 10, TribLIVE), John Steigerwald states that if fans can’t attend games, the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons should be canceled. I love sports but have many other interests, so I am not going through withdrawal like many fans are. If there are no seasons, I will survive just fine.

But I do not agree with Steigerwald. I don’t watch sports to see fans or hear them yell. I watch sports to see the games. I would have zero problem watching games without fans. They don’t make the game for me.

I doubt there will be sports this year. But if there is a way to pull it off sans fans, I will be watching and enjoying as much as ever and not caring one bit about the empty seats.
