Regarding the letter “Water concerns in Brackenridge” (Feb. 2, TribLive): The areas with the most fluoride have the most dentists. So fluoride has nothing to do with preventing cavities. There’s a major difference between calcium fluoride found in nature and sodium fluoride, which is man-made and highly toxic. This is the fluoride that’s put into the public drinking water. If you were to buy sodium fluoride in a hardware store, the bag it comes in has the skull and crossbones on the package.

The community I live in has no added fluoride in the water, and my teeth are fine. Of course I brush and floss daily. I also do not use fluoridated toothpaste, and my teeth are fine.

Sodium fluoride first started in this country as a byproduct of aluminum, which is a toxic waste product, which does not belong in the water supply. There are “side effects” to using sodium fluoride. One is it makes you docile.

These concepts are fully documented in a book titled “Fluoride the Aging Factor” by Dr. John Yiamouyiannis. So stay away from fluoride. Your brain will thank you for it.

Dr. Eugene M. Goldberg
