Letter to the editor: Stay home & stay safe
People are complaining about the stay-at-home restrictions, and I certainly understand. I’m not enjoying it either. But we must look at the larger picture.
People complain about churches being closed, and I understand that, too. It is difficult to be absent from our Christian community, but it would be worse for the Christian community to be absent from our churches. You still have the right to worship. You can do that wherever you are and should be doing it every day in your lifestyle and dealings with others.
It is only common sense that eliminating contact will reduce the spread of this disease. That’s why we are always told to stay at home when we have a contagious condition, even the common cold. But those won’t kill you. Covid-19 will.
Is it germ warfare as some suggest, or the start of the end of the world, as suggested by others? Does it matter all that much about how we respond to it? Not really. Stay home, stay safe and keep well.
But I don’t agree with turning prisoners loose. After all, if they obeyed the rules (laws), they wouldn’t be in jail. They may become a hazard to society once again.
I ask that you count your blessings and thank those who are still out there facing this disease head-on to care for you: the doctors and nurses, police, mail carriers, grocery store personnel — the list goes on and on. Thank you and God bless us every one.
