My thoughts about some recent news.
• Once more the Steelers will not be in contention for a Super Bowl win. They have the talent, but need a coach. Mike Tomlin is a nice guy, but will never be a winner like Chuck Noll because he doesn’t enforce strict discipline. Players like Tomlin; therefore, he lets them get away with things other coaches would never tolerate.
• Why do liberals want open borders? Could it be that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer view illegal immigrants as future Democratic votes? We need a wall to protect our border, and money wasted on welfare fraud and foreign military aid could pay for it.
• As for the government shutdown, if congressional pay was withheld, you can bet a budget agreement would be forthcoming in a hurry.
• Many years ago, Nevada solved its prostitution problem by legalizing prostitution. America has a similar problem with drugs. Since people can’t control it, they want to legalize it. The first step was making marijuana legal for medical purposes; now, some states have approved it for recreational use. Tax-and-spend Gov. Tom Wolf sees recreational pot as a source of tax revenue, with little concern for people’s health. What is the difference between getting killed by a drunk driver and one high on marijuana? Once legal, how can you prevent a user from growing his own? Can’t recreational pot lead users to life-threatening drugs?
• At 85, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s decision to work from home while recovering indicates she is more concerned about her liberal vote than her health. Sad.
