Letter to the editor: Steelers' food at Saint Vincent has come a long way

Tribune-Review

I read the interesting article “Steelers dish on what they eat during training camp” (Aug. 6, TribLIVE). My dad, both brothers and my daughter are all graduates of Saint Vincent College. My dad raved about the bread the nuns served, but my brother Dan tells funny stories of being in line with the nuns dishing out the food and asking, “Sister, what is it?” The nun would answer, “You eat, good for you.” Dan: “But Sister, what is it?” Nun: “You just eat — good for you.” It was some gray matter, and the students either ate it or went hungry or, if they were fortunate enough for The Shack to be open, ate there.

Now we have all the high-falutin’ nutritionists and delicious catered food services for our athletes. Rocky Bleier bringing up nuns serving the food made me laugh. How many Super Bowls did we win in the ’70s? Just sayin’ … bring on the nuns!
