Letter to the editor: Steps to a fair election

There are a lot of “conspiracy theories” out there with regards to the 2020 presidential election and the 2022 midterm election. We have gone to “mail-in” ballots and computerized voting (which I believe can easily be hacked or otherwise manipulated).

We will never have a “fair” election in this country again unless we get back to basics. If you want to eliminate the doubt, do the following:

• No mail-in ballots unless there are special circumstances, like being in the service, out of the country (or voting district) on business or vacation, or in an extended care facility.

• Election day, not election season.

• Voter ID with validated signatures on file.

• Paper ballots, which are easily tallied and authenticated.

Without this, nothing changes! Those who can find a way around the “system” will.

Call your senators and representatives … heckle them. They supposedly work for you. Remind them of that. This needs to happen, or we are done!

I find it amazing that with the “technology” in place, they are still “counting” the “votes.” Not that I am “suspicious,” but I sure am cynical.
