Letter to the editor: Stop politicking, take action

I am sick of hearing about the dire need to protect our federal House and Senate while politicians do nothing about groups like Black Lives Matter and antifa that have burned and pillaged U.S. cities. Apparently, only their elite members should be protected — not businesses or citizens. Some are calling for eliminating police while being protected by them.

Also, thousands of illegals are crossing our borders without screening for criminal records, diseases or even the covid-19 virus that has quarantined most of us for over a year. Then, at taxpayers’ expense, they are housed in hotels and shipped in planes and buses throughout the country without notice to local or state officials. Then who cares for them? When did we become a country that puts the needs of illegals (have we forgotten this means law-breakers?) before those of its own citizens who are taxed for this support? Those tax dollars should be caring for veterans, the homeless, senior citizens and those who have lost their businesses because of the pandemic restrictions.

Our government needs to stop all of the politicking and address these major issues. Most appear to only be concerned about their own skins and lining their pockets. Where are the civil servants?
