Letter to the editor: Story on priest's good deeds appreciated
JoAnne Klimovich Harrop’s article about Rev. George T. DeVille (“A higher calling: Catholic priest turns 90, continues to devote life in service to the church,” Aug. 22, TribLIVE) was a real treat. As a “cradle Catholic,” I have worked in several capacities as a volunteer and an employee of the Diocese of Greensburg for most of my life, from Catholic school to my retirement and beyond.
In my experience, DeVille represents what the vast majority of the Catholic clergy have to offer God, the church and the people they serve. When the media chooses to show this side, it is a rare and welcome tribute which offsets the recent negative press given to the Catholic Church and its priests.
Please continue to present more of this positive reporting. In these stressful times, we sorely need to hear messages of the good deeds performed by people in all walks of life. Thank you!
