Letter to the editor: Strangers, first responders save another life

Tribune-Review

Reading the story “Greensburg 1st responders lauded for saving victims of heart attack, house fire” (Feb. 16, TribLIVE), I feel compelled to add my story.

I suffered cardiac arrest at Planet Fitness on Sept. 23. I, too, owe my life to the quick response of strangers — the gym’s personnel, a Westmoreland County Community College student who happened to be on the scene and medical technicians. I also owe my life to the medical personnel of Excela Health Westmoreland and the nursing staff at Redstone Highlands.

Both cases prove, again, that none of us live unto ourselves. In these polarized times, we would do well to remember that everyone is important and be grateful to those on whom our lives depend.
