Both of my parents are in their 80s, and my sister and I have struggled daily to get them covid-19 vaccinated. They live in Westmoreland County, which, according to the state map of vaccine locations, has 10 times fewer sites than Allegheny County. Also, this antiquated system of having to go one at a time to each location’s website has proven useless as I spend more than an hour a day searching each one and am repeatedly told no vaccine is available.
Thanks to sites like vaccinefinder.org and the spreadsheet of vaccine locations provided by Pennsylvania government (go to health.pa.gov and look for “Distribution”), we know where the vaccines are yet are told repeatedly that no vaccines are available from these pharmacy and clinical sites.
Today, I read that four states are lowering their age restrictions to 50 since most of those 65-plus have been vaccinated.
Pennsylvania has proven to be a tragic example of covid-19 vaccine mismanagement, and I feel sorry for the elderly in this state.
