Letter to the editor: Students need better tools to learn

As a high school student, I see firsthand the impact outdated textbooks and poor athletic facilities have on our education and well-being. It’s frustrating to be told education is a top priority when our reality says otherwise.

In some of my classes, we’re using books that are full of outdated information and falling apart at the seams. It makes learning harder and less engaging. On the athletic side, our gym equipment is worn out, and the field is uneven and is not safe to run on.

Students are constantly expected to do their best, but how can we when the tools we’re given aren’t good enough? Our education and physical health matter. It’s time for schools and local leaders to invest in better materials and facilities that reflect the value they claim to place on students.
