Letter to the editor: Stupidity is a problem in our country

This may just be an old man’s rant, but here goes.

Never in my life did I think that people in this country who sat at home and watched an attack on our Capitol, live on TV, with lunatics defecating on desks and threatening to hang the vice president, just four years later would vote for the leader of that mob for president.

This truly is just a rant because I am not delusional enough to think I can reason with these people.

Maybe if I stood in a cemetery with a Bible in one hand and an assault rifle in the other, dressed in some flag-themed clown suit, a few would listen. If I could reduce my message to three vulgar words and print it on a T-shirt or a Confederate flag, some would buy that.

The biggest threat to this country is stupidity, and it’s not coming in illegally; it’s homegrown. The biggest problem with stupid people is that they don’t know they’re stupid. I can only imagine how many of them are reading this and thinking “he’s not talking about me.”

Why do they like Donald Trump? Because smart people talk down to them. What choice do they have?

I could rant on further, but some Haitian immigrants with lobster bibs on are staring at my dog.
