In response to the letter “SummerSounds doesn’t need Russian band” (May 10, TribLIVE) about Leonid and Friends performing at St. Clair Park in June: For 20 years Gene James and company have strived to bring the finest entertainment to Greensburg for the enjoyment of all. My husband and I have attended all of them, rain or shine. We volunteer every Friday and are donors for this wonderful venture.

I am on the hospitality committee, and every week I meet and greet every band member who is on stage. All of them cannot get over how beautiful the park is and how well they are treated. Bands have come from Africa, Australia, Finland, England, Ireland, Canada and all over the U.S. We are nationally known. There is a waiting list of musicians who would love to come to our little town to perform.

SummerSounds concerts are funded by the generosity of our sponsors, donors and donations from fans who are there every week and appreciate what SummerSounds and James have brought to Greensburg. The fact that we entertain 2,000 to 3,000 people a week must mean we’re doing something right.

I would like to thank the loyal fans of SummerSounds who come out every Friday to support us. It is appreciated more than you know.
