Two, maybe three new automatic car washes in Irwin/North Huntingdon? Really? We have two now, plus a half-dozen self-wash stations. How about a great restaurant, like an upscale steakhouse, seafood or hibachi?

PennDOT says the attraction for car washes is the 29,000-plus vehicles per day that travel through the area on Route 30. Too bad they don’t base their maintenance and repairs on that. That section is deteriorated, dilapidated and dangerous. There have been no serious upgrades or repairs to guardrails, culverts or some turning lanes for decades. I guess that explains the surge in new auto parts stores — the need for auto suspension parts.

Boycott new corporate out-of-state car washes. Support our two locally owned car washes, the ones that support our community and our youth. Let’s give them our hometown support. Let’s see some yard signs.
