I was so excited to see the article “Greensburg Art Center opens ‘Art of GIFTing’ holiday sale” (Nov. 5, TribLIVE). I’m a small business owner and jewelry artist, and shows like this are so important to me and my fellow artisans.

Across Pennsylvania and the country, businesses large and small are dealing with the continuing effects of inflation. The increased price of energy, goods and services is making it more expensive for businesses to operate. This has caused company owners to look to spend more efficiently in other areas, like marketing. Social media platforms, specifically personalized ads, offer a way for businesses on a budget to reach and engage customers. Like many small businesses, I’ve also been able to grow beyond the local market with Facebook ads, making a huge impact on my sales year-round. For small businesses, though, the holiday season is so important.

As you’re thinking about the gifts you’ll buy this holiday season, remember to include small businesses in your shopping. You’ll be amazed at the unique items you’ll find at local boutiques or shows like the Art of GIFTing. As your friends and neighbors, your purchase means so much to small business owners like me.
