Letter-writer Ron Slabe has demonstrated a total misunderstanding of the functions of the Supreme Court (“Pa. Supreme Court fails us on fracking,” June 28, TribLIVE). He says that they “put their money and voices where it was supposed to count, our judicial system.” The judicial system is specifically designed to be not reflective of money and voices. It is to interpret the law in accordance with state constitutional principles.

If you want your voice to be heard, you need to go to the political branches. They are designed to be responsive to the democratic principles of “the consent of the governed.”
