When covid-19 hit and shut schools and life down in mid March, it was a shock to all of us. My children were very much missing friends, family and “the normal.”

From the time I was a baby, I spent my summers at Sylvan Park in Natrona Heights. I have so many memories of my summers there, and not much has changed: Sylvan pizza, blue dew, the slide/whale, and a clean and safe environment. I now have the joy of being a five-year membership holder and get to make new memories with my family.

We had our fingers crossed about Sylvan opening in late May this year. And sure enough the staff, board members and volunteers pulled through to open the pool for the community. We had a wonderful summer going to the pool. Our two oldest children took swim lessons every day for six weeks. The high school and college student lifeguards are fantastic with children. They form relationships with the children, treating them with patience and care. They are fun-loving, all while keeping them safe.

We look forward to many more summers at Sylvan Park. We are thankful for a summer with some normalcy, all while keeping us safe.
