Letter to the editor: Take election concerns seriously

I am a 65-year-old U.S. citizen, wife, mother of five and grandmother of 18. My life is full and blessed.

I am greatly concerned, though, for the welfare of our country and specifically my family. I have had the privilege to vote since 1973. I am a registered Republican, although I have voted for some Democrats over the years.

I have always trusted that it is ultimately almighty God who has allowed people to rise to power; as it says in the Book of Romans, “There is no authority except that which God has established.”

My concern is with reports of a lack of oversight during the vote-counting for this election. If indeed people who were to observe the counting were prevented from doing so, why is that? If everything was done legitimately, why give the appearance of impropriety by counting with no one watching?

Let us please not just dismiss these concerns. About half of the electorate is questioning our election process, as we should when there appear to be irregularities.

I also believe that able-bodied people should vote in person with proper identification to help restore integrity to our elections.

Mary Mator
