According to the article “Pittsburghers asked to pick up litter ahead of NFL Draft” (March 6, TribLive): “As Pittsburgh prepares to host the NFL Draft, Pennsylvania officials are asking residents to lend a hand in cleaning up litter in and around the city. Despite ongoing cleanup efforts by PennDOT, Secretary Mike Carroll said it’s ‘not enough.’ ”

“ ‘We really rely on our volunteer groups to get things done when it comes to litter removal,’ he said Thursday alongside other officials at an on-ramp in Green Tree.”

The event encouraged residents to help by picking up litter in their communities.

Baloney! Set higher fines and enforce them. Pittsburgh looks like a dump. People don’t care until it hurts.

I know people who came to Pittsburgh for the NCAA tournament, and they said the city looked like a dump.

Don’t ask us to volunteer for a responsibility that belongs to you.
