Letter to the editor: Taking money, power from police is pitiful

So all the people who rioted in the streets, destroyed their neighbors’ property, started fires and committed crimes against the police suddenly think they’re entitled to do whatever they please.

If a crime was not committed in the first place, there would be no reason for the police to be present. Taking away their power to defuse a dangerous situation is ridiculous, and trying to take away funding is even more ridiculous.

I think it’s the police men and women who should walk shoulder to shoulder down the middle of the streets stopping traffic and protest what the elected officials are doing to them. Then when one of them calls 911 for help, just let the phone ring off the hook.

These people risk their lives every day for the very people who are now chastising them. How pitiful. The men and women in blue need to go on strike. That way all the criminals can have at it, just like in the movies. Defund the police? Ridiculous.
