The opening paragraph of the story “Pittsburgh police scrap plans for leasing warehouse space in $1M deal” (June 1, TribLIVE) states that “Pittsburgh’s Bureau of Police has scrapped plans to lease new warehouse space in a deal that would have cost the city just more than $1 million through 2031.”
It is far past time to point out that for any costs, lawsuit settlements, etc., that a city or any of its departments — especially police — accrue, it is more accurate to write that said costs or settlements, etc., will, would, did, cost the taxpayers so much, so many millions of dollars — not “the city.”
It is, again, far past time for accountability for all, and if any media is truly interested in facts and truth, then say it, print it, publish it. Every cost involved in law enforcement is paid by the taxpayers, not “the city.”
You want my “correct information” so you can verify that I wrote this letter — why can’t I, and we readers, not be given the same “correct information”?
