My family would like to publicly thank Officer Jason Dieter from the Greensburg Police Department for his kindness during a sad time. Recently, my mom passed away unexpectedly in her home. As paramedics cared for my mom, family members arrived and were comforting my dad. One of those family members was my 6-year-old grandson.

While there was no need for Dieter to remain on the scene, he did. He took my grandson into the dining room and played dominos with him, keeping him distracted until my daughter-in-law arrived to take him home.

His kindness and genuine interest in my grandson helped a 6-year-old process the death of his great-grandmother. What could have been a devastating experience was not. Dieter was in tune with the needs of this child and his family.

I can’t imagine this was a one-time act from Dieter. His actions on that day speak to who he is as a person and as a police officer. Thank you, Officer Dieter, for the lifelong impact you had on my grandson and his family.
