We had the opportunity to meet Westmoreland County Sheriff Jonathan Held a number of years ago at a “Refuse To Be A Victim” program put on by a local church. While he towered over us in height, he came across as a friendly, congenial law enforcement officer.

We asked him about his feelings on the Constitution and law enforcement, and he took the time to give us a clear and concise response. He said he is committed to upholding the Constitution.

Over the years we have watched his actions as our sheriff and have concluded that he is a professional law enforcement officer and we are thankful to say he is our sheriff. A great plus is that he is not a politician and he is well respected by those who know him.

We have never seen him waver in the face of hostile and negative press. Anyone, especially newscasters, can take a cheap shot and call it news, but it takes a person with strong character and convictions to turn his cheek and continue doing his job.

We will be voting for Held, fully realizing that the swamp critters here in Westmoreland County are bound and determined to destroy him.
