On May 5, we were reminded how life can change in an instant when a tragic accident took the life of two young people and critically injured our daughter, Cait Tracy (“Employees of Greensburg’s Rialto restaurant mourned after fatal crash in Hempfield,” May 6, TribLIVE). It was an unimaginable loss for two loving families, and it will be a long road ahead for our daughter as she recovers from not only physical injuries but the loss of two dear friends.
We appreciate the respect for our privacy as we concentrate on Cait, who is making progress. However, we want the community to know how truly grateful we are for its support. What started as donated tips and some collection jars has grown to include numerous businesses, social organizations and individuals donating and organizing drives throughout Greensburg and even surrounding communities (“Almost 40 businesses raising money for woman injured in Hempfield crash,” May 9, TribLIVE). We can’t possibly acknowledge them all, so please know that we thank everyone who has stepped forward to help.
Our family is focusing our prayers on the other families who were devastated by this tragedy, and on our Cait, but please know that we are deeply touched by the support of the greater Greensburg area. We know that all of this will lift and help Cait in her work to return to the community she loves.
