Letter to the editor: Thankful for support of small business
Covid-19 hit my small business very hard, as well as so many others. I am fortunate that I was able to open for Mother’s Day with online and phone orders, curbside pickup and no-contact deliveries. Our wholesalers and the flower farms they purchase from had all been shut down for weeks, but we did it.
I am in awe and overwhelmed by the people who stepped up and actively searched out a brick-and-mortar small business. Many left notes on their online orders — “stay strong” or “happy to support your business” — and asked to round up their payment in the form of a tip.
Some were already our loyal, valued customers; others were new to us. All were so very much appreciated.
As Westmoreland County begins to “go yellow,” I hope that every small business gets to feel the support that my business has been blessed with in the last few weeks.
When you support a small business, you are supporting a family, a neighbor, or a mom or dad who is providing for his or her family in your own community.
So as we look forward to heading into the green phase, let us all make it part of our new normal to support small business owners who pour their hearts and souls into their establishments every day and appreciate every single sale.
