Letter to the editor: Thanks to Norwin board members, who did a thankless job
As a Norwin Community Republican Committeeman, I coordinated several of the past election’s staffing needs for our local conservative candidates. We touted our Republican candidates’ conservative agendas, especially on fiscal matters. Our school board candidates were a top priority.
It is a thankless job. Our candidates ran modestly funded campaigns against well funded liberal opposition. Why would the teachers union financially support the opposition’s selected candidates? Why would those candidates accept union funding? I thought that the school board was apolitical?
In spite of that, we won four years ago. Our fiscal conservatives, for the most part, held the line for Norwin’s taxpaying community; however, it exacted a heavy personal toll. Their characters were assassinated and their rights violated, and lewd pictures were published on social media by so-called fellow Republicans. And to top it off, all of that, for free!
They came to every meeting prepared and asked the hard questions. They did not rubber-stamp any district agenda items. They had our backs, not our wallets. That was not good enough though. The apathetic community drank the Kool-Aid and fell for the smear campaign and we lost the last election. To the Norwin community, “when you snooze, you lose.”
I would like to thank you, Bob Wayman, Alex Detschelt, Shawna Ilagan and Christine Baverso. for your tireless efforts during your respective times.
