Woodward and Bernstein set the journalistic standard in the Watergate scandal. A third-rate burglary set into motion a chain of events that led to the resignation of a president. There was Deep Throat. Follow the money. All the president’s men. The Washington Post set the standard for journalistic excellence in the ’70s. They talked to most people in Richard Nixon’s orbit and reported on Nixon’s dirty tricks hit squad. They also reported on the cover-up.

In 2020, the Watergate standard is not the standard.

The New York Post published a story about alleged emails damaging to Joe Biden. Twitter and Facebook censored the Post. Mainstream media created a narrative that this is an example of Russian disinformation. Adam Schiff dismissed the story and received more publicity than the emails.

Isn’t anyone curious? When asked about the emails, Biden said that it was a “smear campaign” without denying they were fakes. This is known as a non-denial denial. This story won’t go away. Where is Deep Throat?

In 2020, Woodward and Bernstein have done everything possible to take this Republican president down. Bernstein says everything Trump does is “bigger than Watergate.” Would they have investigated Nixon if he were a Democrat?

In the ’70s it was the Watergate scandal. In 2020, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal are alone in following this story. America does not need a Ministry of Truth. If Biden did nothing wrong, we’ll eventually know.
