Letter to the editor: The fools are determined to believe the lies
Why do Americans keep falling for the lies of government propaganda? I’ve observed this throughout my 70 years.
I was 8 years old when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and clearly remember that day. But I grew up and stopped believing in the “magic bullet” theory, just as I did with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
We were told fairy tales about three skyscrapers disintegrating into their own footprint due to structural failure and “weapons of mass destruction” hidden in Iraq, both used as a predicate for war.
We were told only “15 days to slow the spread,” which turned into years of worldwide medical tyranny causing untold suffering and damage. And the terms “safe and effective” and “trust the science” were used for experimental potions causing injuries and deaths that are still continuing.
The absurdities and what I consider lies continue: Now the FBI stated that the scrawny 20-year-old gunman who penetrated layers of high security with a rifle to shoot President Trump acted “alone” and a convicted sex-trafficker who entertained the elite for decades never kept a client list, and no guards or security cameras were witness to his prison “suicide.”
Mark Twain said, “The truth has no defense against a fool determined to believe a lie.” America has a lot of determined people.
