Letter to the editor: The real antisemitism
I was angered and offended by another anti-Trump propaganda AP article, this one titled “Antisemitic celebrities stoke fears of normalizing hate” (Dec. 4, TribLIVE). This article attributed a “surge in anti-Jewish vitriol” by citing Donald Trump hosting Kanye West and Nick Fuentes.
Where is the real antisemitism being harbored in the U.S.? Try looking at the antisemitic comments from Rep. Ilhan Omar that sparked House Resolution 241 (but not supported by Speaker Nancy Pelosi). Or how about comments from Rep. Rashida Tlaib, falsely accusing Israel of being an “apartheid government”? Perhaps we could look at the Muslim student associations on liberal college campuses accusing Jews of persecuting Palestinians.
We could consider Louis Farrakhan — an overt antisemitic preacher who blames the Jews for the slave trade. We could also look at the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (President Obama’s former pastor for 20 years), who preached many anti-Jewish sentiments. As a matter of fact, Obama was the only U.S. president to vote against Israel in the U.N. and cut off military aid to Israel after rocket attacks from Hamas.
Trump, during his presidency, did more for Israel than any other U.S. president, including moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. Also, Trump, being a grandfather of Jewish grandchildren, is unlikely to harbor any antisemitic sentiments.
