I was saddened to read the letter “We shouldn’t be punishing women” (May 15, TribLIVE) referring to children as “damaged goods.” What kind of a message does this send to our young people?

Tragically, more than 63 million unborn children have died since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973. This distressing state of affairs has given rise to a throwaway culture, where even human beings are considered to be expendable. Moreover, rather than honoring women, Roe has further traumatized them, leaving them to grieve children lost to abortion.

An unborn baby has a distinct DNA from the mother and should be treated with the dignity and respect that should be accorded any human being. Simply put, women’s rights should extend to the unborn woman in the womb.
