Letter to the editor: They all knew who Trump was

Tribune-Review

They all knew who Donald Trump really was. The following is what they said about him before they seem to have buckled under to his bullying and abandoned their last shred of dignity:

• Lindsey Graham: “He’s a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot. I think he’s a kook. I think he’s crazy. I think he’s unfit for office.”

• Ted Cruz: “He doesn’t know the difference between the truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth.”

• Kellyanne Conway: Trump says he’s “for the little guy” but he’s “actually built a lot of his business on the backs of the little guy.”

• Rand Paul: “Donald Trump is a delusional narcissist and an orange-faced windbag.”

• Marco Rubio: “Donald Trump is a con artist. He’s been exploiting working Americans for 40 years.”

• Nikki Haley: “Donald Trump is everything I taught my children not to do in kindergarten.”

• Mike Pompeo: “Donald Trump the other day said that, ‘if he tells a soldier to commit a war crime, the soldier will just go do it. He said they’ll do as I tell them to do.’ ”

• Glenn Beck: “I don’t think Donald Trump has even read the Constitution, knows what’s in the Constitution.”

• Rick Perry: Trump is a “toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense.”

• Susan Collins: “I just cannot support Donald Trump.”

The generals didn’t know initially, but it seems they found out the man was not fit to be commander in chief, and they quit.

They knew then. They all know now.
