Gov. Tom Wolf (to recent college grad): Nice mountain of debt you are drowning in. I tell you what I’m gonna do. I got this little job I want you to do. Do me this little favor and I’ll see to it that you don’t have to pay back the money the citizens loaned you.

I know this is not a job you wanted or trained for. I know we snookered you into debt much greater than the value of the education you received and greater than your ability to pay it back. I also know that I’ve already spent all the money I could get my hands on, but my notion of good government is to spend it all and then get some more.

Thus, in order to get what I want (more drug counselors), I’m going to use money I don’t have to make you change your career plans (“State offers student loan repayment for opioid treatment specialists,” May 15, TribLIVE). Even though this is extortion and I’m doing it by appropriating money from the state that I have no right to, don’t worry, the proles will never see through it until it is too late. Nobody is as clever as your governor.
