The NFLDraft is nearing and it is time to evaluate the shortcomings of coach Mike Tomlin. Is he the reincarnation of Bill Austin (he preceded Chuck Noll ) or the captain of the Titanic? Shuffling chairs or players will not change the outcome. We’re going down … again.

Steady as she goes, says Art Rooney as his team has played under .500 the past 41 games. “Save my job,” bellows Captain Tomlin. Only columnist Mark Madden doesn’t pander to the Steelers propaganda machine. Like myself, he knows Tomlin should be fired because of proof positive.

Listen up, naysayers — look at the first four picks of each draft going back to 2011 when Cam Heyward was drafted. Hardly anybody’s left on the team. Tomlin has a pathetic draft and is unable to evaluate talent or develop it. Shuffle in retread players to create a distraction and save his job.

While I believe Chris Hoke is the man to lead this team, there are too many great minority coaches who would do a better job. Pandering to the Pitt alumni wasn’t the answer last year; it only got us the lowest rated quarterback in the league. Tomlin demonstrated no control over his players. Since he claims to be respected throughout the NFL we could get a sixth round pick for him.

Fire Mike Tomlin; he’s gotta go.
