There are four coaches in NFL history who have 170-plus wins, a .630-plus winning percentage and a Super Bowl ring: Don Shula, Bill Belichick, Andy Reid and Mike Tomlin.

All of these coaches except Tomlin didn’t have the success they had with the first team they coached. Shula had great seasons with Baltimore but never won a Super Bowl until he went to Miami. Reid was the same with Philly and Kansas City. Belichick was in Cleveland before New England, and Lord knows Cleveland hasn’t won a Super Bowl.

Tomlin inherited an 8-8 team and never had a losing season, even winning a Super Bowl with them. But I get it. Playoffs. Shula was 2-3 in the playoffs before Miami. Belichick was 1-1 in Cleveland. Reid was 10-9 in Philly and lost the only Super Bowl he was in over 14 years. All of them did better in the playoffs with their second team.

Tomlin is a first-ballot Hall of Fame coach, no matter how much racists may deny it. Tomlin is disliked by many because of his skin color. That happens a lot in these parts. The racism of white male Republican gun owners runs deep.

In 2025, when Tomlin takes over as coach for some other team and wins some Super Bowls, don’t be jealous. Root him on. Be happy for him. Tomlin needs to leave Pittsburgh to be successful, and Pittsburgh needs to find a coach willing to rebuild from the ground up after the disaster coming this year.

Tomlin gotta go.
