Letter to the editor: Too much hatred of conservatives

Tribune-Review

The Trump assassination attempt is a blatant warning that too many people in the U.S. possess a mindless hatred of conservatives.

With liberal leadership demonizing and misrepresenting conservatism, our society is rife with knee-jerking hostility to necessary opposing views. Conservatives believe in equality, that government is supposed to be for all of the people, not for voting blocs. Conservatives believe workers are entitled to keep their earnings, rather than that money being funneled to those who elect to opt out of the workforce.

The growing hegemony of the Democratic Party has been bought and paid for with tax dollars. They use our money to buy votes, and there is no justice in that. If defining the constitutional provision of spending for the “general welfare” is unlimited in scope, that simply grants incumbents a blank check to buy their reelections and to mold the entire economy, thus creating an autocracy.

A nation of laws and not of men is what conservatives want. We need a president who does not legislate through executive orders and a Congress that passes laws, not a bureaucracy that imposes them. Otherwise, we’ll continue to have desperate presidents who offer money — such as paid-off college loans — in exchange for votes and government spending that undermines our currency worse than counterfeiting does.

If people would stop talking about Biden and Trump as if the election is about them and focus on the issues, we’d all be better off. Liberals, stop hating and try being open-minded for a change.
