Letter to the editor: Trump a Christian?

I think President Trump’s best lie and his best con job ever is that he’s a Christian. I don’t think he goes to church, prays, reads the Bible, petitions for forgiveness of sin or contemplates his destination after death. Trump worships on the altar of money. Money. Money. Money and the accumulation of wealth and the power that it brings seems to be his only concern in life. If anything, I’d say he’s closer to being an atheist than a Christian.

The ultimate Trump con job was when he interfaced with a dozen scamvangelists in his office. While they were putting hands on his shoulders, he just sat there with a smug expression. One wonders what he was thinking at the time. I get a laugh every time I see this.

In my opinion, he only uses Christians to advance his economic and political agenda. The relationship is reciprocal. He pretends to be a Christian and gets their support and votes. Christians get to advance their Christian nationalist agenda of converting this country’s secular democracy into a religious theocracy like Iran’s.

Anyone who thinks Trump is a Christian has been conned. Sorry. Don’t be hard on yourself. Trump is a world class con man.
