I see Sen. Pat Toomey wants to take away the president’s authority on tariffs (“Toomey bill would strip Trump of tariff authority,” Feb. 6, TribLIVE). For years we watched Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton cry that “the Chinese are manipulating their currency and stealing our technology,” yet none of them did anything to stop it. Finally we have a leader who is a man of action and willing to do something; a doer, not a talker.
Toomey and his fellow “kick the can down the roaders” do not have the stomach for it. Studies are cited saying jobs and money will be lost. Studies may or may not be correct. What we do know is the economy of the past two years is the best that I can remember. Toomey should sit down and pay attention.
